Saint Fraigne is a quiet rural village

We have a boulangerie/bakers that opens 6 days a week selling award winning bread , cakes pasteries and basics.

There is also a bar/cave within a 2 minute walk, also opens 6 days a week.

In summer there are frequent pop up restaurants for you to enjoy.

The market town of Aigre with several restaurants and bars is 7KM away. There is also a supermarket with petrol and many shops

There are weekly markets in Aigre and we offer bikes if you want to cycle.

Ruffec is about a 15 minute drive away and has markets twice weekly on Wednesday and Satuarday mornings. At the Rejallant in Ruffec you can hire a canoe and explore the rive or enjoy a picnic in the lovely surroundings.

Angouleme is about 45 minutes drive away and offers daily markets, shops, bars and restaurants.

Verteuil is a 30 minute drive away and is one of the most picturesque villages in the Charente. Take a stroll along the river bank which is over looked by a bueatiful chateau to the ancient moulin which is now a restaurant. The chateau dates back to the 15th century and was built by the Rochefoucauld family. The chateau is open for visits most afternoons (not Monday).

Nanteuil-en-Vallee is a 30 minute drive and has a mix of traditional houses some dating back to the 12th century, the village is listed as a'petite cite de charractere'. Enjoy a stroll round the village and stop off for coffee or lunch and enjoy the surroundings.
